Welcome Northern Star,
My name is Dee and I am one of the moderators of the forum, our other moderator is Barbara Rue and she will be along to welcome you as well.
I'm sure that Beth will also swing by and say her hello as well.
In the meantime please take your time and settle in, read the posts of the other members, if you see something that interests you and you would like to comment please do.
We'd like to hear about you, how you are, and how you came about to land here with us.
I have been in recovery for just a little over 7 years now. The first four years I was a MMT patient, the last 3 1/2 years I have been a Suboxone patient.
If you have any questions about Suboxone or concerns about your recovery please let us know and we will do what we can to help.
You may also want to check out our Suboxone Assisted Treatment website. It is a wealth of information not only for people in recovery but families as well. Many professionals also use our website as an aid in teaching. Another great source of information is our Medical Assisted treatment of America website. The links for both websites can be found at the bottom of this post.
Yours in Recovery,

Hello Northern Star,
Welcome "home" my friend! I am so glad to see that you've made it here. I won't ask if you've had a good trip, as I think I probably already know the answer to that one. My name is Beth & am currently taking Suboxone. Are you also on Suboxone? Or Methadone? Or considering gettting onto either one of them? I have never been on the Methadone myself, but we have many members who either have been or are on it, as well as the Suboxone. As I said, I am currently taking Suboxone and have been on it for nearly a year & a half. It has saved my life, literally. I believe that it is a miracle medication, as I had tried nearly everything to try to stop taking the pills, but could never remain off of them. I even had a "clean" time period in there for over two years, but even during all of that time, I still never felt "right" or "normal" like I thought that I should. I didn't realize the damage that I had caused my brain's receptors & for as long as I had used (for 16 years), how long it might take to repair them, if at all. The Suboxone has helped me to obviously keep off the physical symptoms & cravings, but has given me time to work on the mental part of becoming an addict as well as helping to keep me in recovery. As I'm sure that you know, addiction is a disease that cannot be cured, but it can be maintained. Just like diabetes or high blood pressure. You cannot "cure" these diseases, but you can maintain them by taking the proper medication for your condition. I hope that you will post & let us know a little more about you & what you are enduring right now. Are you in recovery yourself or desiring to get there? Let us know how we can help!! Alot of times, just talking about it will help to lift some of that burden, that weight on your shoulders. I hope to hear more back from you soon & to learn more about you.
Have a blessed day!
Yours in Recovery,
